Japanese video games have made an impact around the globe. The first major video game system in Japan was called the Famicom. Famicom was given a makeover for the states and renamed NES an acronym for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Video games thrived in this environment because they were easy to develop. Famous Japanese video games include Super Mario Brothers, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Street Fighter, and Wii Sports. Shooting, hunting, arcade, war, sports, and memory video games are the most popular genres.

Childhood obesity has caused a shift in the video game universe. Getting players off the couch is now a major priority. Exercise video games like the Japanese invented Wii Fit are gaining traction in the market. Sony Japan will be releasing their own set of active gaming tools for the PlayStation 3. These games help decrease their owners waistline. I own a Wii Fit which has assisted me in my exercise routine. It is important to not play for an extended period of time in order to avoid injury. The object of this Japanese hunting game is to hunt bugs. Use your mouse to shoot bugs. A variety of shapes and sizes will appear on your screen. Maneuver the guns crosshair using your mouse. Points vary depending on what kind of Japanese bugs you get. If you shoot a person by mistake, you will lose 30 points. The video game ends when you run out of time or ammo. Play hunting games to get the adrenaline going. The online hunt is sometimes better than the real thing.

Japanese War Video Game

This Japanese war game is similar to Minesweeper. The object of the video game is to find hidden mines. You can do this by opening up squares that do not have mines underneath. Play starts after you pick to play in 16 by 16 or 25 by 25 squares. The numbers indicate how many mines are hidden within the 8 squares. Locate mines by using the space bar to place flags. Placing a flag in the wrong place will make you lose instantly. Running out of time is an additional way to lose this war video game.

Japanese Shooting Game

This Japanese shooting video game is based off of the Normandy beach landing operation of World War 2. The object of the Japanese game is to avoid enemies from landing on your territory. If enemies get to the bottom of the screen, you lose. Shooting opposing forces is the only way to complete your objective. Use your mouse to move the target. Shoot by pressing the mouse button. Play holding the button down. This makes shooting continuous. Ships hold about twenty troops. A game play tip would be to shoot the ships before they reach shore. The troops will jettison the vessel on the beach.

Are you hungry? Here is a chocolate themed Japanese memory game. The object of the game is to match up all of the cards with minimal errors. Use your mouse to turnover the chocolates and see what is underneath. Match two like images to see them disappear. You can click up to 100 times in the first level. A hundred additional clicks are awarded when you finish a new level. This memory video game ends when the time runs out or you have no more clicks left.

Japan Dolphin Video Game

This dolphin game from Japan involves a hunt. There is a killer whale hunting our dolphin. You control the dolphin during play with the arrow keys on your keypad. You have to swim away from the killer whale as long as you can. Be aware of how much air the dolphin has. Dolphins need air to live. Losing can happen when the dolphin is under water to long without taking a breath. You can also lose when the killer whale catches you. Rotating between the up and down arrow keys will make your dolphin go faster. Avoid hitting mines as it will make your video game character freeze up.

Japanese Shooter Video Game

In this video game your character is the gun shooter for a Japanese naval ship. The object of the game is to shoot down the military planes and missiles that are gunning for you. Use the computer mouse to aim. Shoot bullets by pressing the mouse button. Hold the button down for rapid fire. Press the space bar to reload your ammunition. If you are unable to destroy the enemy and slam into them, your life gage will go down. You will lose when this number hits zero. Fast hands and excellent hand-eye coordination is the key to this Japanese shooter game.

Rare Japanese Video Game

This is the rarest Japanese video game around. You typically would not associate four leaf clovers with Japan. They do have them though. In Japanese culture, four leaf clovers are said to be lucky. A rare video game is the result of this time honored tradition. The object of this game is to find 10 four leaf clovers as quickly as you can. High points can be scored if you can locate 7 four leaf clovers quickly. Clicking on the wrong clovers will result in 100 points being deducted.
